Leonardo, through its Cyber & Security Division acting as prime contractor, is leading a new ESA initiative focused on quantum-secure communication technologies. This initiative aims to develop the Quantum Security Validation Platform, an integrated reference architecture designed to analyse, verify, and validate quantum and post-quantum technologies for space systems. The platform will be configurable and scalable, ensuring flexibility to meet a wide range of user requirements.
This announcement highlights the growing importance of quantum technologies in strengthening the security of critical assets, from essential infrastructure to space systems.
Leonardo is at the forefront of advancing quantum technologies for secure data management. Telespazio Belgium, part of Leonardo Space Division, will play a key role in engineering operations related to post-quantum technologies. Under the leadership of Massimiliano Mascia, Director of the Space Projects and Operational Services Business Unit, a dedicated team of top-engineer will be deployed at ESA-ESEC in Redu, where Telespazio Belgium stands as the leading local player for these activities.

Accelerating Quantum capabilities
With quantum technologies increasingly dominate global discussions, the involvement of Telespazio Belgium in this project is critical for its future capabilities. This initiative will not only enable the company to adapt its operational capacities but also position as a leading provider of quantum-related services in the Walloon Region and in Belgium.
Within the state-of-the-art ESA-ESEC facilities in Redu, Telespazio Belgium will leverage its expertise to demonstrate, once again, its ability to take on innovative projects and continue its journey toward excellence in space engineering services.
